My little one really enjoys this book. She is about 15 months now and is learning new words. I really like the format. Each animal/object is in it's own square instead of all mixed up on the page. This really is helping my daughter learn her new words. And she is able to associate the words with the correct items and images. She's learning a new one almost every day. Incredible!The book is sturdy enough and colorful. The pictures are nice too but I wished book makers these days paid attention to the production and reprographics of their books. The colors of the images run dark, too saturated, and very heavy on the red ink. I used to be in advertising and I would never approved of this level of printing. That said, babies don't really notice. But that doesn't mean they don't deserve a well printed book, right?
This book was a favorite among the 3 kids at my house. We have read / played with this book for hours. There are several inviting pictures on each page. Even before kids can talk, this book is great for playing "Where is ______?" "Can you show me _________?" You will be surprised at how much vocabulary your child has before they can speak! Even my 4 year-old will ask to play with the book; we just play harder games now. "Can you show me something that starts with the letter __________?" etc.
My twins love picture books, so I bought this book, My BigTruck Book, and My Big Animal Book for my boys for Chritmas. A relative also got them My Big Dinosaur Book for Christmas as well. The pages are sturdy and the pictures are real photos: beautiful and vivid. I also liked the fact that these were big board books, roughly 12 x 12 inches and the pages seemed heavyweight. However, there seems to be a flaw in how these are bound and two of them them so far have had pages and sections of pages come undone from the binding. I was able to use packing tape to tape them back in and my boys are still enjoying them six months later. However, just be aware that this happened after only a month or two of normal use....which at about $8 each might not make you very happy with your investment in these books.
This book isn't the most exciting story time book, but it's great for my 1 year old as he is learning new words. He particularly likes the pictures of babies, which is cute. The book is very big, but I really like that fact because it makes the pictures easy to see and recognize for a little one. I've seen other first word books that are drawings, but I like this one with photographs better because the objects are recognizable. Overall a good buy.
My 18 month old son loves these books. He brings it to me at least 5x/day pointing at the pictures prompting me to say what the picture is. The book is large and sturdy which I love because he tends to destroy every other kind of book. These are a must for toddlers!
I own pretty much all of these books now and for good reason. There is no better book to help your child with word association than these. The bold images are great for helping them learn and make word associations! These worked wonders when teaching my first child and I am now using them for my second child as well.
I love this book size what a lot bigger than expected , only thing I didn't like about it for example is when you show a picture of a hat with a child in it kind of makes in confusing. You don't show a picture of two things and call it one thing. other than that the book in awesome my son loves and helped him with his words and recognition of people places and things. And it was a great price for the book as well! Over it is been awesome!!
We have another book in this series which is quite good. This is a disappointment since it repeats much of what is in the other book we have. It's also VERY short. Aside from the two covers, there are only 4 pages. Probably good buy if it's a first book but if you have others, I'd skip this one.
My son knows every picture. Very colorful!!Well put together and stands up to a 18 mo old boy playing with it. My son has learned all his pages and memorized every picture.
